$810 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Won!
The American Mega Millions jackpot has finally been hit, and this time the winner hails from Texas! A single ticket sold at Murphy USA in Sugar Land matched all six numbers in the September 10 drawing, securing a staggering $810 million prize. The winning numbers were white balls 1, 2, 16, 24, 66, and the golden Mega Ball 6. This marks Texas’ 15th Mega Millions jackpot win.
This colossal win tops the charts for the largest September jackpot in Mega Millions history. It also ranks as the seventh-largest prize ever awarded by the game. It’s only the third jackpot claimed this year, with previous wins of $1.128 billion in New Jersey and $552 million in Illinois.
The September 10 draw saw over 2.1 million other winners across various prize levels. Four lucky tickets, sold in California, Florida, New York, and Washington, matched five white balls, each scoring a cool $1 million. Another 47 tickets matched four white balls and the Mega Ball.
This latest jackpot run created a frenzy, with more than 22.8 million winning tickets sold across 28 drawings. Among those, 61 second-tier prizes of $1 million or more were awarded in 25 different states.
The American Mega Millions jackpot now resets to $20 million for the next drawing on Friday, September 13. Historically, Friday the 13th has been a lucky day for some, with seven jackpots won on this “unlucky” day, including a massive $1.348 billion prize earlier this year.
Mega Millions continues to make headlines as the only lottery game to ever surpass six jackpots of $1 billion or more. Will you be the one who claims the next big win? Stay tuned.
